  농업 분야에서 농약은 안정적인 생산성 유지를 위해 반드시 필요합니다. 이러한 흐름에 따라 안전하고 효과적으로 농약을 사용하기 위한 연구는 꾸준히 진행되고 있습니다. 특히 특정 생물체에 어느 농약이 어떻게 작용하는지에 대한, 즉 작용기작에 관한 연구는 가장 관심을 많이 받는 분야입니다. 그러나 농약에 직접 노출되는 작물, 그 자체에 농약이 어떻게 작용하는지에 대한 연구는 많이 진행되지 않았습니다.
