본 연구의 주제인 preschool wheeze는 생후 12개월부터 71개월 사이의 영유아들에게 흔히 발견되는 wheezing (쌕쌕거림, 천명) 을 주로 동반하는 질환을 말합니다. 주로 호흡기 바이러스 감염에 의해 발생하고 유전적 또는 환경적 요인이 바이러스에 대한 민감성, 질환의 중증도를 결정하는 것으로 알려져있습니다. 임상에서는 보통 증상이 심할 경우 경구 코르티코스테로이드제가 주로 처방됩니다.
