Abstract

During acute starvation or nutrient scarcity, cells survive by suppressing energy-intensive anabolic processes while simultaneously inducing autophagy to recycle nutrients and maintain homeostasis. This response is achieved thanks to nutrient-sensing systems, which are critical for coordinating substrate availability and metabolic status with biological processes.
