Abstract

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common form of progressive hair loss, but currently approved treatments do not directly target Dickkopf-related protein 1 (DKK-1), a key mediator of follicular miniaturization through Wnt/β-catenin signaling suppression.1 We evaluated the efficacy and safety of CosmeRNA-DKK1, a topical small interfering RNA (siRNA) formulation targeting DKK-1 based on the self-assembled micelle inhibitory RNA platform, at 2 dose levels.2 A total of 72 patients with mild-to-moderate AGA were randomized 1:1:1 to placebo (n = 22), CosmeRNA-DKK1 3 mg/mL (n = 26), or 6 mg/mL (n = 24) in 24-week, double-blind, vehicle-controlled trials at a single center.
