Flt3-Ligand는 초기 조혈세포의 증식을 조절하는 성장인자입니다. Flt3-Ligand 는 tyrosine kinase receptor Flt3가 발현된 세포에 결합합니다. Flt3-Ligand 자체는 초기 조혈 세포의 증식을 자극하지 않지만, 다른 뇌척수액 및 interleukin과 시너지 효과를 발휘하여 성장과 분화를 유도합니다. SCF와 달리 Flt3-Ligand는 비만 세포에 활성을 나타내지 않습니다. 지금까지 Flt3-Ligand의 여러 isoform들이 확인되었습니다. 주된 생물학적 활성 형태는 막횡단 단백질의 세포외 도메인으로써, 세포 표면에 고정되어 있습니다(209 a.a.). 막에 결합된 isoform은 단백질분해적으로 절단됨으로써 생물학적으로 활성된 soluble isoform이 생성됩니다.
