OV9A2 단일클론 항체는 인간 CD59(Protectin)에 대하여 특이적으로 반응합니다.

CD59는 림프구, 과립구, 적혈구, 단핵구 및 신경세포를 포함하는 조혈 및 비조혈 세포에서 발현됩니다. T 세포 활성화에 관여하고 CD2와의 상호작용을 통해 T 세포 접착을 조절합니다.

또한 CD59는 C8 및 C9 보체 성분과 결합할 때 보체 세포 용해 활성과 membrane attack complex의 조립을 억제할 수 있습니다.
